About this speaker
Conductor Amy Andersson has toured the world to twenty-two countries, performing opera, orchestra and video game repertoire. Appearances on Late Show with Stephen Colbert, CBS Morning News, CBS Evening News and press coverage in the Wall Street Journal have led music critic Norman Lebrecht to call her “America’s most watched symphony orchestra conductor.”
In September 2019, Ms. Andersson premiered Women Warriors: The Voices of Change at Lincoln Center in New York City. This live-to-picture symphonic production, featuring an original documentary and 70 minutes of original music by 10 female composers, honours the lives of over sixty-five female activists from around the world. Ms. Andersson painstakingly constructed a silent documentary which honors the lives of global activists past and present, who have fought for civil rights, human rights and for the right of every girl to an education. Created during the years 2018-2019, this unique art film highlights 800 years of feminist activism, while viewing history through the eyes of women and girls.
